Site Acquisition Sets Stage for Fishermans Bend Water Recycling Facility

The Victorian government is acquiring a Fishermans Bend site for a water recycling plant to support the precinct's growth. South East Water aims to secure the 10-28 and 21-51 Sardine Street land in Port Melbourne for this water recycling facility, endorsed by various councils and government bodies. Anticipating growth to 80,000 residents and jobs by 2050, this sustainable solution will provide potable water for various private and public developments within the urban renewal precinct. The proposed project integrates innovative technology, rainwater tanks, and recycling plants to harness local water sources. The $37 million sites, purchased in November 2021, will contribute to this endeavour.
