On 10 April, FBBF hosted a business breakfast at the Melbourne International Shooting Club, attended by 20 local business and government representatives. Guest speaker Annette Woodward captivated the audience with the story of her journey representing Australia in pistol shooting at the 1996 and 2004 Olympics, earning six medals and becoming Australia’s oldest Olympic athlete at age 56. Her story, marked by hard work, success, and tragedy, made for a memorable and inspiring presentation.

After the talk, attendees were treated to a tour of the facility—many were surprised by its size and admitted they hadn’t known it was there!

Guy Naselli provided an update on the status of the Fishermans Bend Development Project and spoke about the Business Forum’s ambition to expand its role in shaping the precinct’s future, with local business activity at the forefront. He highlighted ongoing concerns, including the state government’s failure to follow through on previously published plans and the lack of coordination among key stakeholders.

As with all community-led groups, continued funding is critical. While the committee volunteers their time and effort, there are unavoidable costs. We rely on member support to maintain our work, including social media and regular updates. If you’re in a position to contribute, please get in touch with Guy to discuss how we can offer value in return.

It was a valuable morning of connection—an opportunity to meet fellow local business stakeholders, share stories, and better understand the challenges ahead.

We’re looking forward to the next catch up!
