For over 80 years, the former Holden factory in Fishermans Bend provided a home for innovation and social connection.
The launch by Australian Prime Minister Ben Chifley of Australia’s first locally made mass-production car in Fishermans Bend on 29 November 1948 was a milestone in our country’s manufacturing. The FX, as it became known, was an immediate success, as was the FJ, launched in 1953.
The Holden transformed suburban Australia, boosted national pride, and quickly become a national icon.
The event on Sunday 5 December 2022 celebrated the community that contributed to Holden’s legacy in Fishermans Bend – and looked to inspire the future of design, engineering, and advanced manufacturing as part of the future Fishermans Bend Innovation Precinct.
